Hey Hesperado,

A couple of simple questions on your original post.

If Maajid Nawaz is someone just trying to pass as a moderate muslim, why would he dedicate some much of his life to founding an organization, which until now (as far as we know) has done nothing more than debating muslims extremists, and trying to get extremists to change their mind (succeedingly in some cases). Why would he want to risk his life for this?

Supposing that he is only coverting as a moderate muslim, what are his real motives? If you don’t know them, what could possibly gained from having ulterior motives aside those he has stated, how would he go about reaching those goals?

Do you have examples of him double speaking, effectively exposing him as something else than a moderate muslim? How do we know when he speaks the truth, if he ever does, and what are the signs when he is deceiving us?

Seeing that you have really thought this through, it should be a breeze for you to answer these questions in a tidy, concise manner, while staying at the point.

I’ve also come to the opinion that Maajid is, to use his term, an Islamist.

Further to Hesperado’s answer I believe that as well as infiltrating and neutralising the counter-jihad, he also knows that spectacular terrorist attacks make people sit up and take notice and at some point there will be a final straw, so he’s perfectly happy to go after the “extremists” who draw negative attention to Islam. His main goal is to seduce us into thinking he is the solution so that we don’t actually take any meaningful action ourselves. It’s a time-wasting exercise.

He understands that time + demographics + our apathy has the greatest chance of achieving the ultimate goal.

Yes, and I would add that the reasoning behind this tactic we may reasonably suppose is being done by certain Muslims in the “Mpderate Reformer” business is to reinforce the inhibition Westerners have to taking measures to protect their societies from escalating and more and more networked terror attacks in the future, such as, for example, deporting Muslims from the West.  The role of the “Better Cops” like Maajid is to make sure the Counter-Jihad doesn’t start trying to wake up its West to the actual dimensions of this problem which would require radical measures such as deportation, based on our inability to tell the difference between harmless Muslims and those who in various ways enable the ongoing Jihad of the Sword against us (many of them doing this by deploying other styles of Jihad, including Jihad of the Pen, Jihad of the Mouth—propaganda taqiyya).  Even better for the goal of the “Better Cops” would be to make sure the Counter-Jihad comes around to his artificial division of Islam into two—the vast mainstream that’s harmless, and the Tiny Minority of Extremists who are pursuing “political lslamism”, an offshoot which we can detach from the larger—but only with the help of Muslims whom we must accept as “partners” in this goal of “reforming Islam”.

And behind reasoning of this tactic is the fact, me may reasonably adduce, that the systemic escalation of terror attacks in the future will not be able to be deployed unless there will exist a pool of millions of Muslims in the West, camouflaged among which will be enough Muslims to pull off those horrific terror attacks (as well as innumerable others providing assistance in various ways).  Short of deporting Muslims, a Reawakened West could treat all its millions of resident Muslims with generalized suspicion, surveilling all of them 24/7 including their mosques, etc.  Either way, the West, before this century is over, seems to be headed for a general breakdown in social order with Muslims escalating to a point of open guerrilla war inside the West.  It would be (or would have been) less costly, less messy, and less bloody were the West to deport Muslims sooner, rather than wait around for a general pan-Western crisis to devolve.

Very well put sir.
