By his behaviour, I’d say there’s certainly some sort of obsessive/addictive/compulsive thing going on with Mario. He seems to be so obsessed with what other people look like and with mirrors and with pornography… I think he probably is a chronic masturbator, Martin. He ought to leave it alone for a while - stay away from the porn sites then see what happens. Who knows, he might get better.

If he ups the Meds a bit Rob and stays off the solvents, then who knows…. smile

Hard to tell with Mario as the head and shaft might be the same thing.
Just take the whole thing out and be done with it.

Hey Sapere, good luck to you trying to not get sucked into the military view on religion. I was in the Canadian Army for over 20 years (artillery officer, been retired for a few years now), and although we don’t put nearly the same emphasis on religion that the US forces do, it was still omnipresent. It always annoyed me that we would have church services that were sometimes mandatory. Rather than rock the boat, I would attend anyway and just tune out, but thankfully it was never a daily thing like what you describe on ship. Thankfully prayers and regular church services were not required (except during recruit training, when it was a good opportunity to get some sleep).

As much as I hate to say it, my advice is to just tune out during evening prayer and don’t protest too much, unless you’re looking at a short career anyway. Like it or not, you will likely be seen as someone who’s not part of the group and this will in turn affect your performance reviews (does not respond well to authority, etc). Now, it is possible that a whole bunch of your peers feel the same way and you may be able to lead a mini revolution to remove the requirement to attend evening prayer, but obviously I know nothing about the composition of your crew. Good luck nonetheless.
