That’s “how things should be” thinking—the definition of ideologue. Realists, skeptics and scientists are interested in how things are first, and we work from there. Ideologues are interested in how [they think] things should be. This thinking is foundational to wingnuts and religious fundamentalists.

Skep, I don’t see how what you’re saying relates to what Deutsch wrote. It’s as if we’re talking about different things. That’s why I asked for specific examples (quotes from the article) and explanations of what you see as the problem with his argument. At least then I could consider and perhaps address your concerns or perhaps even come around to your way of thinking.

I had a look at it. Religous aplogetics as far as I can see.

I’m unsure about the intent, so with the magic of “Andrew”, best to removed it I think.
