We have it on the authority of the president of Turkey:  http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/25/world/europe/turkey-erdogan-women/index.html?iid=article_sidebar

I’m going to get roasted, but he’s right.  Men and women re not equal, meaning the same.  At least I hope not.  Equal in intelligence, yes.  Equal in map reading,  no.  Equal in physical strength, no.  Equal in attraction to me, no.  Biology results in inequalities, or we’d not be here.  Not a matter of same but being complimentary.

In a proper world, women would serve men, and obey them, taking care of the kids and kitchen, while men whack the food and build the shelters.  Neither can endure w/o the other.  Spoken as an unbiased man, whose wife never reads this stuff.

Let’s pin this down a bit…

How about “women should be equal under the law”?

Yea, but that’s no fun at all!

The president of Turkey also has had a new presidential palace built costing over 600,000,000 dollars and 10 times larger than the White House. Given his pronouncements over the past couple of years I think he’s gone into megalomania. Time for him to leave office. Which does not remove the fact that, as I often tell my wife, as proclaimed by the Southern Baptists long ago, women need to graciously submit to their husbands. Fortunately, my wife has a sense of humor and thinks I’m joking.

Elevating the stature of women creates the sort of culture I prefer to live in. A woman is superior to a man in her articulation of compassion and ability to resolve disputes without violence. Denying women the right of equal participation is also the denial of everyone else’s right to benefit from the unique insights of a feminine perspective.

I don’t really endorse the idea of ‘rights’ as intrinsic. Rather I notice that different persons bring different resources to the common conversation and I wish, for selfish reasons, to take full advantage.

Lots of places still defend hierarchies based on race and gender. And those places suck. That’s enough for me.
