I just start from a different premise than you do.  You have no better evidence than I do.

An acute hallucination is not relevant evidence for anything other than to prove that your mind went on the fritz for a couple minutes and convinced you that your culture’s god exists. Relying on that and the bible, which is infamous for being substantially made up, and then saying that you have evidence to prove god exists simple shows that you’re fast and loose with the word “evidence.”

I keep thinking that there is some combination of words that could show you how nonsensical you sound when you say things like that.

What there is evidence of is the resurrection of Jesus.  What conclusions you draw from that are a matter of faith.  I’ve never said that I can prove God’s existence.  You do not understand my argument because you don’t take it seriously because of your bias.  That’s fine, but when I read your posts I realize that you don’t get it.  Which is also fine.

Knowing that people can’t reanimate and come back to life after dying isn’t a biased belief. It’s common sense even before science proved it without a shred of doubt. Jesus was the protagonist in the bible and they wrote him doing things that he didn’t. therefore it’s very difficult to take your argument seriously. maybe help me look at it from a different perspective?

I know you’re asking Bruce this question, but how ‘bout this perspective? Here’s how I see things:

Why would we want to kill Bruce’s faith? He’s already on our side. He’s a superb writer both of fiction and nonfiction. He’s got degrees qualifying him to be a pastor. He’s an attorney. He even has a sense of humor. Bruce, due in part to his Christian faith, is potentially far more influential than you or I regarding Christian nuttiness, because he’s an insider. He refuses to give it up, yet he also understands the significance of pretty much all the flaws and backward ideation seemingly inherent to many of today’s Christians. And Bruce is interested in reform. What’s not to encourage?

Christianity and theism in general. I don’t think Bruce is off fighting the cause to socially dismantle theism for his more watered down version of it. So I see our conversations about religion as a product of PR, and even then only when his faith is at issue. The truth is that religion bores me. I’d much rather talk about other things. But there’s no way I’ll ever be the type of guy, either in person or online, who will let someone say something as asinine as Jesus came back from the dead and let them just own that little piece of bullshit as if it were possible, let alone a fact. I have way more of an issue with the arguments supporting theism than the people who believe them.

“Discussions” with sea lions (and apparently owls) ... no fun at all. No point either really.

And I think he’s got a hard on for me because I got him to universally define how all people feel the emotion pleasant. Spoiler alert, he thought he was correct. Now I can’t shake the sea lion.

I’ll define my own God, thank you very much.  I reject your description of my God.

As I’ve explained before, by making the Old Testament obsolete, Jesus is no longer heir to that construct of God.  The New Testament, freed from the Old, has given a new interpretation.  It’s very simple, but you are a one-trick pony who doesn’t know when to stop performing.

And the Quran, freed from the new testament, has given a new interpretation. And the BOM, freed from the Quran, has given a new interpretation.

It’s very simple, but you are a one-trick theist who is stuck in the past following an old revelation of god.

Please don’t let me stop you from smelling the incense of your god’s temple and partaking of his loaves.
