“The Way does not need cultivation - just don’t defile it.  Zen does not need study - the important thing is stopping the mind.”  -  Zen master Huanglong

“The change comes when we experience the present moment prior to the arising of thought.”  -  Sam Harris in his book, WAKING UP.

(Huanglong quoted from the book, ‘ZEN ESSENCE - The Science of Freedom’ - translated and edited by Thomas Cleary

EN, we were in the middle of something here when the bottom fell out.  Do you remember what it was?

Yes, you had constructed a perfect argument proving that I am the most important thing.

Objection!  Your Honor, the counselor is taking advantage of this gap in the universe.  I suggest that he deliberately shredded the last 12 days of transcript.

The Gap Trap, a well-known maneuver employed by shady legal types to win a case. You were relying on the wrong Zen masters:

“It is within the emptiness of the gap
That it is to be found, avoid the trap
Of saying it’s this
That is a great miss
And now you’ve got to run another lap.”

Or, as Yoda tells us: “In the wind, do not piss.”

Or, as Yoda tells us: “In the wind, do not piss.”

Easy for him to say, he lived in a cave!

I had to clean up his syntax, the original words were: “The wind, into, piss do not.”
