I just watched a video of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, Prince played with Tom Petty and others. Awesome. The summary of the solo was: Harrison wrote it, Clapton recorded it, Prince perfected it.

this is a shitty year to be a past-middle-age artist.
I’ll mail all my favorite actors and musicians and suggest they spend the rest of 2016 in an isolation ward.

I’m sorry for his sake that he’s dead, but I have to say I never liked his music.

From what I’ve been reading, he’s been sick lately—not with any kind of congenital or terminal illness, just sick with what sounded like pneumonia or something over the past week or so.  Then I read an article that reminded me he was a devout Jehovah’s Witness.  I think I’d read that somewhere before, but I’d forgotten.  Then the light bulb went on.  JW’s don’t refuse all medical treatment, but there are some they won’t accept, most notably blood transfusions.  I wonder if that was a factor.  I suspect it might have been.

That was one of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard.

Put Prince on the $20 bill, change it to $19.99, and call it The Bill Formerly Known As The Twenty.

In cased you missed this (not from the soundboard, sorry), Gilmour honors Prince:

Gilmour Honors Prince

Gilmour is in my top 5. Which got me to thinking about Garcia, also in my top 5. I know Garcia was often sloppy, but he was tight as a drum on this one:
