This week’s ICE raids in Mississippi has me pondering again how these officers can continue to do their jobs under such a corrupt administration.  Do they tell themselves that they’re just doing their jobs and it’s not their responsibility to judge?  A relinquishment of individual conscience?  Can they leave the job behind when they go home and hug their own kids after separating other parents from theirs?  How long does it take to harden your heart to crying children?

They are illegals, and they are officers, so they are doing their job. If they were arresting people you didn’t like and weren’t trying to save you would be saying they were just doing their job.

Maybe we’re being too negative about this ICE raid, Jan.

Now, there are 680 dream jobs opening up at the Peco Foods processing plant in Mississippi. Jobs for Americans. Jobs that those illegal, brown-skinned people were hoarding for themselves. All those down-and-out, Oxycodone addicted, middle-aged, white, jobless Trump voters in the Rust Belt can finally get a job. This is their golden opportunity.

Yes sir. Trump and his Republican supporters are finally coming through with their promise of new jobs for American workers.  To paraphrase the great Ronald Reagan: “It’s Mourning in America.”

ICE called after the plant lost a multi-million buck harassment suit.
Tit for tat?

Good point.  Yeah, these workers are being used as pawns and exploited by politicians and employers alike, and yet these ‘brown-skinned people’ are the ones being looked on as the criminals.  It’s nuts.

A point of clarification - the raid was done at multiple different locations, not one.  Something like 600 ICE officers for 630 people.  I’d like to see that done to California farms during harvest season.  Do an ICE raid in Chinatowns across the country.  Miami is swimming in illegals.  But ICE goes after chicken processing plants in deep red, racist Mississippi.

Yep, that really is the Mississippi state flag.

The Confederate Battle Flag is the flag of another nation.  To fly it is, in my opinion, to commit treason. It is the flag of a nation that rejected the Constitution and fought against the United States.  How can people fly the Confederate Battle Flag and the Stars and Stripes together?  It doesn’t make sense.  But sense doesn’t matter in Mississippi.

Georgia is just as bad.  Their state flag is a slight modification of the CSA flag, adding only the image within the circle of stars, otherwise it is the CSA flag.

The man baby Trump must be sad indeed
For his latest desire is for Greenland to cede
This real estate deal is bound to fail
Cuz the people have said they are not for sale

Our country is $22 Trillion in debt and climbing, yet our president wants to spend money buying up other countries. If it was really “America First”, the orange emperor would be focusing on paying down the national debt and shoring up our nation’s ailing infrastructure. But this would not be in character for a megalomaniacal ass of a president.

Unfortunately, it does seem quite in character for the actual “Donald First” president.  A spoiled wanna-be king who thinks he can buy anything he wants and pines for the good ‘ol days of colonialism.  He probably envisions stripping Greenland of its resources without a second thought for the sovereignty of the people who live there.

But like many a megalomaniac before, in their myopic self-absorption they miscalculate the will and power of the people which is their eventual downfall.

TRUMP’S FAVORITE BOOK

https://www.msnbc.com/all-in/watch/donald-trumps-favorite-book-505029187689

“They wanted to rub me with the greasy cheeks of their kindness.”  (H.D. Thoreau, speaking of preachers who were guests at his family’s dinner table)

Preacher:  “I’m going to dive into Henry’s depths.”

Thoreau:  “I trust you won’t strike your head on the bottom.”

Our country is $22 Trillion in debt and climbing… (the US should be…) ...focusing on paying down the national debt and shoring up our nation’s ailing infrastructure. But this would not be in character for a megalomaniacal ass of a president.

There is meaningful work, jobs, economic growth and family and community security and prosperity in that platform.
Some smart politician should grab it and run with it.
