There is no such thing, Jeff. If one person gets it, it’s understandable.

Your judgment should not be some absolute reference.

What if, and this is hypothetical

very hypothetical

someone comes up with some mishuguna world view which is undecipherable but is being promoted as a viable way of looking at things.
Maybe they call it “Myworldview” or some equally weird name like “quadroonity”,
can I tell them its not understandable?  (I couldn’t resist!)

OF COURSE I’m not “the absolute reference”  ...your words

It’s my opinion.

The point of a forum is to express opinions.

That’s why we’re here.

It is not the burden of the listener (reader) to understand the speaker (writer), it is the burden of the speaker to make himself understood by the listener.

Agreed

Do you see the difference between saying “I cannot understand you” and “you are not understandable”?

Yes

Try using the former and not the latter.

I don’t agree with this.

Jeff, I find it fascinating that you of all people seem not to appreciate the way that competently composed writing might not be accessible to everyone. I say this because relatively speaking, only a small handful of people are able to make sense out of the things that neurologists say and write to each other. I could look up definitions of each and every one of the words in these writings yet still have no idea what they are supposed to communicate. There would be no message whatsoever for me to take away after reading some of the things you guys say and write.

and after 6 plus years at the PR site I know I’m not going to change any ones mind.
