We can’t afford to lose Big Bend National Park.  But Donald Trump wants to build a wall all around it at the Rio Grande.  As a person who has been visiting the park for over 50 years, I can say that a wall there would be a travesty against nature.  While you still can, visit the park and savor it’s wild, desolate beauty, before Donald Trump destroys it.

Gah!  Fight Texas, fight!

Just heard on the radio that the threat of enforcing immigration laws has recently triggered a bunch of California farms to make inquiries about the official Guest Worker program.  They’d have to supply housing and pay $12.50 per hour.  (Currently only about 10% of the farms do this.)  The big growers are starting to get worried.  Why not just enforce the laws we have by holding these big farms responsible?  This seems like a much saner solution that building a %&@#!! wall.  Gah!!!

My wife and I will be going to West Texas in September to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays, which occur within a span of 4 days.  We will be taking our passports so we can take the delightful Rio Grande crossing at Big Bend to the little Mexican village of Boquillas, where you can get a beer, a taco, and a souvenir.  I’m doing this before Trump destroys the whole area with his wall.  He doesn’t seem to care about anything.  I’m thinking of suggesting that he open a golf course and casino in the area - then it would be safe.
