Wow!

Hannah gave a Bible lesson and told her story about how Jesus and his New Testament followers failed as him as the Messiah.

You see, in her story the leading Jews not recognizing Jesus as the Messiah was a complete failure. Jesus, if he was the Messiah, would have abolished Judaism and all Jews would have followed him.

Again ... Wow! She’s amazing, this Hannah is.

I was under the delusion that the thousands who followed him for three years were Jews that began a miraculous expansion of devotion, multiplying to tens of thousands who believed in him for the years after his death stretching all the way to Rome, and then billions upon billions who’ve loved him for two thousand years.

What a failure as a Messiah Jesus was because he never became a temporary political Jewish Messiah but only a spiritual Messiah for all of humanity through every age since his appearance on Earth.

Thank you, Hannah.

You’re truly an amazing and brilliant woman.

After his death, Jesus was promoted with fake news making him a cult leader whose actual life story was embellished with many untrue magical stories.  (not unlike the original Saint Nick becoming a jolly bearded man in a red suit living at the North Pole who drove a sleigh full of toys pulled by flying reindeer).  That’s why billions and billions of people like yourself worship him - you think the magical stories are true.  Almost all Christians are gullible, superstitious people who instill their beliefs in their children. As the population of the planet grows so do the number of Christians.  Almost none of your billions care a fig about being kind to their enemies, or turning the other cheek when slapped.  You just want to live forever, which is another form of greed.  You stated years ago that your life wouldn’t be worth living if this was all there was - a greedy child throwing his gifts aside and demanding more - worshiping someone who promises him more.

Almost all of your posts on this forum are threatening, nasty and scurrilous - as you pretend to be a disciple of love and goodwill toward men.

Speaking of amazing and brilliant ...

Your new skeptic poster, Dissily, is spreading himself around for all of you to enjoy, commenting on old threads and new.

His opinions on life and reality are astounding.

Like how he found relationships with women too complicated, so he would just approach another guy and offer him a mutual butt-fuck. What do you think the chances are he’s quite ugly?

Boy, I bet you can’t wait to hear what he writes next, especially GAD.

Knock it off!  We really don’t need anyone to scare off yet another poster.  And it’s rather superficial of you to care so much about physical appearances.  It’s ugly.

No, I won’t.

The guy’s another idiot in love with himself and every thought he thinks no matter how stupid or unproductive or malicious that thought is.

Don’t ever tell me what to do.

You’re another version of him.

Speaking of another idiot in love with himself, this video posted by Ola and Jan_CAN in the ‘Dump Trump’ category made me wonder if Trump University was one of the many colleges where you got a degree?  https://nowthisnews.com/videos/politics/donald-trump-is-apparently-the-expert-on-everything-according-to-him

He won’t last a month, for he called himself an agnostic.

And you have posted warnings at the gates to this thread.

But this forum is so very delusional about its intellectual value, and so very scarce of new members, I’ll ask your forgiveness and promise to leave all newbies alone until they become full-fledged forum opinionists.

I guess I thought his mutual butt-fucking anti-marriage opinion seemed worthy of derision.

But I guess I’m not from Canada or a lighting specialist.

But what if they wander in here?

Brick’s new post where he takes our needed compassion for others down long twisting superficial roads of intellectual masturbation is a prime example of the intellectual’s inability to prioritize his thoughts down to the bottom of reality where they belong.

To be compassionate towards others, and to the degree that we actually sacrifice ourselves for others, is our highest calling. To put ourselves first in everything is to lessen our existence profoundly. Even wild animals know instinctively when others need their help, and become profoundly beautiful when they give it.

Brick, a former Christian who should know better but must have been thinking about himself when the story of Jesus was told to him, ejaculated a spurt of a thought that compassion for others is paradoxical because we can never truly identify with others. However, the opposite was the message behind “For God so loved the world ...” And this message became a movement of compassion that stretches deep inside of us and across every millennium since it was first heard.

I grew up poor, living on welfare and in three different housing projects. I remember not being able to have a chance at doing the same things other kids were doing. I remember quitting the football team as a star halfback in the 10th grade because I got a full time job on the back of a garbage truck from four to midnight.

And today I completely “identify” with poor people and therefore give whatever I can when I get the numerous opportunities to do so.

In the same way, when we grow in the truth about ourselves living temporarily in this valley of tears that will one day become a paradise, we “identify” with each other in a profound reality of struggles and suffering, and then we “identify” with the equally profound reality of the paradise we we share together, and then we receive the power to be compassionate beyond some intellectual ideas on compassion.

Brick has provided a perfect example of why skeptics are powerless human beings incapable of serving anyone other than themselves.

And his “paradox” that so obviously doesn’t exist provided a perfect example of why skeptics who love thinking over truth think themselves into ignorance.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-moment-youth/201206/the-art-positive-skepticism

quote from this article:  “Galileo and Jobs were skeptics. They had developed habits of thinking that challenged what appeared to be reliable facts. They understood that testing assumptions over human authority led to greater understanding, innovation, and creativity.

It’s easy to confuse being a skeptic with being a cynic. So let’s define the terms.

A cynic distrusts most information they see or hear, particularly when it challenges their own belief system. Most often, cynics hold views that cannot be changed by contrary evidence. Thus, they often become intolerant of other people’s ideas. It’s not difficult to find cynics everywhere in our society, from the halls of Congress to our own family dinner tables. People who are driven by inflexible beliefs rarely think like Galileo or Jobs.”

The writers of the New Testament were the most honest and accurate writers in human history because they wrote unselfishly in the service of the OBJECTIVE AND ABSOLUTE TRUTH presented to them from either their own experiences or the experiences of others.

Show me a single objective fact that shows to us that the New Testament writers made up what they wrote to create Christianity.

Show me a single objective fact that shows to us that the first Christians didn’t experience exactly what was written about Jesus.

I can show you many objective facts that show to us that today’s skeptics write falsehoods as objective facts in service to their bigoted view of God.

(Sorry, Bruce, I read something wrong and wrote something stupid that I had to edit.)

https://thehumanist.com/magazine/march-april-2012/features/the-bible-according-to-thomas-jefferson

quote from this article:

“Thomas Jefferson was editing the Bible, a book regarded by most of his fellow Americans as the word of God. The act was certainly presumptuous, perhaps blasphemous. But Jefferson found the task simple. The worthy parts of the Bible were easily distinguishable from the worthless—“as distinguishable,” he later wrote in a letter to John Adams, “as diamonds in a dunghill.”

Mario, the authors of the New Testament believed that all those stories about Jesus were true for the same reason that you believe they are true - they were gullible and superstitious.  Not a single one of them witnessed the ‘immaculate conception’.  Not a single one of them saw the dead Jesus stirring back to life after being dead for three days (and after being photographed by God while he was dead - see the Shroud of Turin).  Not a single one of them saw him turning water into wine or doing any of the other fantastic things that superstitious people of that time and this time require their gods and demigods to live up to.

LadyJane, you would actually become a writer if you gave to your readers something definitive to think about when having to sludge through your self-indulgent claims of superiority you heap in thick generalizations.

If there is much here to ridicule, then finding the best example of it would make your point and give your writing a true value.

No one here is waiting for your next post because it comes from you, as your dead-on-arrival posting has already shown to you. (see ... an example)

Off beat turns of phrases happen all the time in our heads when we smoke weed.

And so does our exaggerated judgment of their cleverness.

True wit is a byproduct of education applied to natural talents.

You’re halfway there.

Mario, there is so much about you that I don’t understand, such as why you came to this website in the first place.

This is more or less a forum for fans of Sam Harris, an atheist, philosopher and free-thinker. What brought you here? And why do you stay? Not that I mind your presence, I’m simply curious.

Do you think you’ll get converts? Turn skeptics into believers? Or do you just like to verbally spar with people, perhaps to clarify your own views? Perhaps you like writing here for the challenge of it, as opposed to a Catholic religious forum where everyone would agree with you? Do you actually like any of the other posters here, like Burt or Saralynn, or even Lady Jane?
