A paragraph in this month’s Sierra Magazine reports that, “The number of flying insects in German nature reserves has plunged by three-quarters over the past quarter century.” 

Remember ‘SILENT SPRING’ - Rachel Carson’s book about the toxic effects of DDT that helped lead to the banning of that stuff?  Now there’s neonicotinoids - 5,000 - 10,000 times more toxic than DDT.
