The Forum Guidelines are up for renewal again.
This week, we are taking suggestions from patrons for the new forum guidelines. We will welcome input on wording and content or just express a concern to us.
I would like to see more folks involved in forum management. Some role that is less than the fearsome admin status but carrying a clear authority to be harshly helpful if necessary. Perhaps temps on a rotation.
The Guidelines Advisory Panel will have final approval. Applications for the now three member panel will be taken this week.
Suggestion for addition to Forum Guidelines:
Rule #6b. Patrons should not be expected to correct or defend what they have not said.
Patrons will do their best not to misquote or misrepresent the posts of their fellow patrons. This means not changing in a quote the words of another patron, not quoting a single phrase or sentence out of context to change the meaning of what was being said by another patron, and not pretending to misunderstand a point made by another patron in order to further an agenda. If an author complains, the moderators will arrange a public flogging at a time convenient for all.

You mean like a just did?
hmmmm flogging? Did you mean something sexual?
Jan_Can I did not realize how kinky you were.
What tool would be used for the flogging?
Who would mete out the flogging?
Are you going to correct me? or flog me?
I think we should ban Iambic pentameter poetry.
I’m okay with limericks.
My apologies. I forgot those threads cannot be posted on.
Now it can.
Rule 44H: Silly suggestions for the forum guidelines will disqualify patrons from the Guideline Advisory Committee.

I think your post here falls under Rule #1 of the 2016 forum rules ... you know the one that talks about “men’s-room behavior”.

Just so you know, I was serious about the above rule (although not about the ‘punishment’).
(Not qualified for the advisory committee anyway.)

No.
I’m treating you as an equal.
oh wait,
damn,
you just did it to me.
I’m defending myself for something I didn’t say.
WAY TO GO!
...I still don’t like your suggestion.
Annoying as some posters are, some of the exchanges are interesting.
for example, I get a kick out of celal

Hey, nice to see you Dennis.
How did you get the “Humanist” label under your avatar. Or wait, can a doggie be a humanist? (Well humans can be dogmatic…)

I’m slow. Where are these guidelines to peruse?
In our minds.
