Trump and Kim publicly signed some papers to great fanfare and self-congratulations, but the contents of the documents were not released.  At this time no one knows what the actual fuck Trump is crowing about, and Kim didn’t say a thing.  I am really tired of Trump bragging about how good he is at sucking his own dick.

Here’s the full text:

Joint Statement of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea at the Singapore Summit

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) held a first, historic summit in Singapore on June 12, 2018.

President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un conducted a comprehensive, in-depth and sincere exchange of opinions on the issues related to the establishment of new US-DPRK relations and the building of a lasting and robust peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong Un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Convinced that the establishment of new US-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:

1,The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new US-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.
2.The United States and DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.
3.Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula
4.The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the US-DPRK summit—the first in history—was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in the joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the US-DPRK summit.

President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new US-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and the security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

DONALD J. TRUMP
President of the United States of America

KIM JONG UN
Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

So, what does #2 mean???  “2.The United States and DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.”  What is a “peace regime”??  Just one “regime”, not North & South?  Did Trump agree to help Kim take over the whole peninsula?

#1 seems positive - they will continue to talk.

Yeah, that’s really the only silver lining I can see. If NK is talking, then there probably won’t be a war.

There were a lot of other, better ways to make that happen, but the bar is so low with Trump that “didn’t give away state secrets or start a conflict” is about the best one can hope for. Kim gets international respect and domestic political stability, Trump will get a new casino in the world’s most repressive country, and both egomaniacs get to preen in front of the cameras.

Good lord. Two to six more years of this insanity.

It’s simple: Praise Trump, and Trump loves you.  Criticize Trump, and you are a “horrible person”.  Kim told him that he was the only President who could have made this happen.  That stroked his ego and produced the desired response.

So the summit so far has resulted in an agreement to talk about de-nuclearizing North Korea.  Wonderful.  Let’s see how far Bonnie Donnie gets in this deal.

My crystal ball says Kim makes a fool of Trump and keeps his nuclear weapons and nothing changes, while Trump declares himself a winner because he was the first American president to meet with a North Korean dictator., i.e. lower the threshold of victory until it matches the results.

Pretty much.

Worth remembering that we should keep the subject of the summit separate from diplomacy in general. Talking with the North Koreans is good; this summit by and large accomplished little that was useful, and nothing which could not have been accomplished through more conventional means.

Trump’s first bit of honesty came in speaking with reporters after the summit.  “I may be wrong, I mean I may stand before you in six months and say, ‘Hey I was wrong.’  I don’t know that I’ll ever admit that, but I’ll find some kind of an excuse.”

And that is all Celal needs to keep evangelizing for Trump.

The real derangement is in thinking that your list is either good, or that Trump deserves full credit! Let’s break it down:

1. Tax Cuts - By far the biggest winners are the wealthy and corporations. But for the average or little guy? Not so much. Not by a longshot. Additionally, the tax plan includes adding about $1.5 trillion over 10 years to the national debt, or $150 billion a year that’s not accounted for by increasing revenue elsewhere or cutting spending.

2. Economy - Doing well. YAY!! If you’re going to thank Trump, then you absolutely have to thank Obama, who took an economy that was losing 700-800 thousand jobs a month and a 7.9% and rising unemployment rate and turned it 180 degrees to leave us with years of net positive monthly private sector job gains and a much lower 4.9% unemployment rate. With the economy moving in that direction, a new President would actually have to try to fuck it up. Fortunately, even Dotard has managed to ride that wave.

3. Stock Market - Again, mostly favors the rich. But if that’s your measure, remember - it more than doubled under Obama. The DOW (which was at about 19,000 when Trump took office) would have to get to about 44,000 in order to match what it did under Obama.

4. Foreign policy - This is still a question mark. Although there are obvious fails - Russia and Iran to name a couple. Iran especially. The hard-earned 6 nation deal to put the brakes on Iran’s nuclear weapons program is now in jeopardy, thanks to Chump. Ironically, he’s now suddenly in favor of diplomacy in order to reach a peace deal with NK. Can you say “hypocrisy”?

5. Low unemployment - So the same BLS figures that were called “fake” when the unemployment rate was dropping under Obama is credible all of a sudden??? Do you guys ever even listen to yourselves???

So you’re correct - there IS Trump derangement. And it comes from the right!

Ron
