Is it my imagination, or is the Sam Harris Forum clock drifting?

I’m going to post this at exactly 8:56 am PDT…

The timestamp is 9 minutes later than actual time.

I too noticed that. I just assumed that is because Sam Harris is moving to the right.

The server admin needs to setup proper NTP.

I suppose it’s mere coincidence that it started happening right about the same time the new administrator was appointed.

It’s always good to be one step ahead of the game.

test

This offset is beyond our control. Patrons are advised to adjust their clocks to whichever time they feel more comfortable with. Why blindly follow mainstream time(MST)? It could be fake time.

I will take this to the ubers. I am sure they be impressed by our fastidiousness.

The error has increased from nine minutes on August 18th to fourteen minutes on November 17th. That’s five minutes in three months. Twenty minutes a year! By the time Trump gets reelected it’ll be off by almost an hour.

This hastens our delivery to the end of a sorry excuse for a presidential term.
And if forty five does get re-elected then there’s a whole lotta things that won’t matter anymore.

If all goes well it will realign sometime in 2064.

The discrepancy has now increased to 36 minutes.

18 Aug 2018: discrepancy = +9 minutes.
17 Nov 2018: discrepancy = +19 minutes. Discrepancy increased by 10 minutes in one month.
11 Jan 2020: discrepancy = +36 minutes. Discrepancy increased by 17 minutes in 14 months.

Thankfully, the rate of the discrepancy change is decreasing. The eventual maximum discrepancy is probably asymptotic to X number of minutes, but we’ll need to do more testing to ascertain the value of X.

I think it’s safe to say, however, that the discrepancy is not correlated to magnetic north drift, whose rate of change continues to increase.

The servers should be set to sync with NTP.
