Somewhere between fifty and one hundred journalists are murdered worldwide each year.  Saudi Arabia claims Jamal Khashoggi died in the consulate in Turkey during a fist fight.

Leave it to the Saudis to bring a bone saw to a fist fight.

If the Saudis did murder Khashoggi (and probably they did), how did they expect the story to play out?  Were they so naive as to imagine that the world would accept that he’d just disappeared?  Maybe they figured it would not matter in the long run, which actually may be true.  The Saudi Prince’s reputation may be knocked down a few notches in the international community.  But does he really care…sitting on all that oil?

Anything that takes the focus away from the War in Yemen.  Mr. Khashoggi was an outspoken critic of that particular conflict.  Which is why the American President is reluctant to condemn.  We are all complicit in that regard.  As long as we continue supplying them with weapons.

Canada stood up to Saudi Arabia once. It’s time to follow through and stop all arms deals
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/global-opinions/wp/2018/10/17/canada-stood-up-to-saudi-arabia-once-its-time-to-follow-through-and-stop-all-arms-deals/?noredirect=on&utm;_term=.0418f81c728b

The reported murder of Khashoggi is the latest in a series of intolerable acts by the regime in Riyadh — acts that must now trigger consequences. The death of a journalist who worked to hold the Saudi government to account is a tragedy. But it is also an attack on democracy, human rights and decency everywhere. Punishing the Saudis would cost Canada. But the alternative is to continue to engage with and profit from the kingdom on the backs of oppressed and murdered innocents. Is that who Canadians are or wish to be? I certainly hope not.

Saudi Arabia is America’s No. 1 weapons customer
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/saudi-arabia-is-the-top-buyer-of-u-s-weapons/

Arms sales as economic development:  The Trump administration has taken steps this year to further boost arms sales abroad. This spring, the National Security Council put forth a policy that cuts regulations and diminishes the long wait times usually associated with weapons sales — all in the name of economic growth. The policy, called an “Arms Transfer Initiative,” is explicitly meant to “expand opportunities for American industry [and] create American jobs,” Tina Kaidanow, a longtime State Department diplomat who recently moved to the Pentagon, said at a conference in August.

It often seems to take the murder of one person, as with Jamal Khashoggi, to focus public attention on human rights abuses which have been occurring all along.

It’s time that countries that claim to be the defenders of human rights put (or withhold) their money where their mouths are.  To do otherwise is nothing other than hypocrisy.

Yes, the US government is hypocritical in this regard.  We citizens are finding we have no influence, particularly with the current Administration.  Trump has not hesitated to state that he will not support cutting arms sales because so many American companies stand to make billions of dollars.  That is where his priorities lie.  It doesn’t matter that many American citizens would rather that we were selling the world technologies for alternative energy production or water purification or communications.  The entrenched military and oil businesses have too much power.  And they have for a long time.

War is a Racket.  The Houthi rebellion would never have gained speed had Yemen been adequately supported by their Saudi neighbours over the years and elicited the backing of Iran.  Saudi Arabia should’ve seen it coming before allowing Iran to get the foothold in Yemen by recognizing the desperation of its people.  A drowning person will take a life preserver from whoever’s tossing one.  In this case Iran.

It’s pretty clear that despite the tough talk nothing is really going to change as to much money is involved.

It was just an unfortunate fist fight. With a bone saw. And 15 special agents. What’s the issue?

We can’t criticize the Saudis. They might stop buying properties from President Trump. The horror!

This war is a desperate battle to defend and preserve the old traditional truth that has dominated civilization since its beginning. That is man-ufactured truth. Specifically manly manufactured truth. It’s a truth that has a bone saw and isn’t afraid to use it.

The slogan ‘Make America Great Again’ translates as ‘keep all truths manufactured’. Supporters of this cause are known as The Base (that’s ‘Al Qaeda’ in arabic) and are united in their sincere desire that all truths be manufactured. Specifically, in a man’s brain. They might prefer the euphanism ‘revealed truth’ but, like the new chevy revealed from under a silky sheet at the car show, it is still manufactured in a man’s brain.

The enemy must not under-estimate how badly they want their broad shouldered truth or what they are prepared to do to keep it. There is a pay-off for them. If they submit to the manly truth of those above them in rank, they can manufacture the truth for those below them. And it is easy on the brain. One can remain stupid and ignorant while basking in the personal power of spreading Your Truth Seeds into other people. It’s like getting to use your brain as a second dick. Feel the orgasmic rush at the moment of someone’s submission to your manly thrusting of reality into their low-ranking brain. If the price of that power is as cheap as accepting some bullshit from your betters, it is a deal that many cannot resist bending over for.

The enemy foolishly thought they had truth in the bag. They determined that truth and justice were best left for Nature to provide. With a good exercise regime and some rigorous discipline, any brain can discover truth instead of taking a place in a heirarchical assembly line of repetitive foolishness.

That misconception is the enemy’s soft spot. Their endless campaigns that offer ‘Freedom from Foolishness’ are charging up hills that no one is defending. They shout, “No one owns the truth!” How little they know of the truth about The Base. They won’t even see it coming.

In the America That Would Be Great Again, the truth is owned. That is what authority means. The enemy offers a blow to personal credibility and power. They enemy would castrate a man’s brain saying “You can’t fondle the truth! Making things up is an abuse of power and not the birthright of authority!”

The enemy is asking for Freedom from Fools and that will put an energized Base on the offensive. The Base knows how to be offensive when offended by the devil’s smugness. What if, all of a sudden one election day, everyone had to answer for their BS all at once and at the same time? The earth would explode. They would have a one-man one-dick policy and all the lads would have to prioritize. Truth without a dick?

The Base will man-up into their man-pants to Make Truth Ejaculate Again. The enemy will cast evidence and peer reviews for naught. Theirs is the truth that does not matter and will never matter as long as The Base can maintain their bonesaws.

There is more to Trump’s attitude toward the Saudis than his love of their money.  Trump envies autocrats who are able to snuff out their critics without themselves being personally implicated.  He knows that 95% or 99% of his supporters are ‘good people, honest, hard working Americans.’  He also knows that maybe .1% of his supporters can hear his dog whistle.  These are the people that the Saudi’s are today calling ‘rogue’ killers.  Naturally rogue assassins have nothing to do with the Prince.  They are not agents of the royal family.  Why would the world’s richest monarchs know or associate with such people?

When will it become dangerous to speak out against Trump?  When will we become afraid to speak out against him?  When The Washington Post offices are bombed?  When a New York Times editor disappears?

Other Trump dog whistles?

There are different truths:

The truth of the poor, that they long for a better life now.
The truth of the comfortable, that they seek a better future world for their children.
The truth of the very rich, that they feel insulated and invincible, so they can do whatever they want.

I stumbled upon Chris Hedges less than two months ago. I think he’s brilliant. More importantly, he’s courageous. He is like Cassandra in the Illiad, telling the truth and predicting the future, yet his voice is being drowned out or ignored by the mainstream media. Such are our times.

From an article named “The Permanent Lie, Our Deadliest Threat” which he wrote for Truthdig.com:

Donald Trump and today’s Republican Party represent the last stage in the emergence of corporate totalitarianism. Pillage and oppression are justified by the permanent lie. The permanent lie is different from the falsehoods and half-truths uttered by politicians such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama. The common political lie these politicians employed was not designed to cancel out reality. It was a form of manipulation.

The permanent lie is not circumscribed by reality. It is perpetuated even in the face of overwhelming evidence that discredits it. It is irrational. Those who speak in the language of truth and fact are attacked as liars, traitors and purveyors of “fake news.” They are banished from the public sphere once totalitarian elites accrue sufficient power, a power now granted to them with the revoking of net neutrality. The iron refusal by those who engage in the permanent lie to acknowledge reality, no matter how transparent reality becomes, creates a collective psychosis.

The permanent lie turns political discourse into absurdist theater.

So you are saying that Trump’s brain is dick?  That concept could mushroom, if you are not careful.

A cosmic collision is the works.  Thousands of migrants are making their way through Mexico to the US border.  Trump calls them “hardened criminals.”  People can see with their own eyes that they are regular men, women, and children.  They will be reaching the border right in time for the US midterm elections.  Interesting.
