I read the beginning of the Mashable article.

Sincere question: Who the frick cares how much of global warming is manmade?

It’s happening, we better try to fix it.

We have to understand the cause in order to make changes for the better.  I shudder to think of humans trying to capture carbon from the air by some sort of scrubbers or other tech fix.  Or seeding clouds to shade the earth, or deploying massive mirrors in space to reflect solar radiation, or other such nonsensical ideas.  There would be unanticipated ill effects, just as every other human intervention has caused.  Like wastewater injection underground causing earthquakes.  Or dams devastating salmon fisheries.  Or hundreds of other examples

You obviously know a lot about environmental issues.  Surely the human race must heed “nature knows best.”  That is, allow the complex webs of natural forces on our planet work they way they have evolved to do—the way that sustains healthy ecosystems.  There’s no way around it.  We need to reduce human-caused carbon dioxide production.  Every other country on the earth understands this except the US.

For decades now we’ve known enough about the causes to be taking action. And it’s also the case that taking action can be done in parallel with further research.

God it’s even worse.  Not that this is necessarily going to happen, but the thought that it might….

Good grief, Bitcoin causes global warming.

I know this is a waste of time, but I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Al Gore had been our president instead of George W.

We would have had a real, honest-to-god environmentalist as president. Who knows what policies he would would have implemented to curtail global warming. Who knows how much better off we might be at this point in cutting greenhouse gases?

And, most likely Gore would not have invaded Iraq and possibly Afghanistan, which would have spared the US trillions of dollars in a pointless war; money that could have rebuilt the infrastructure here at home or helped the educational system or increased healthcare for all. And then there would be all the lives that would not have been wasted or ruined because of the war, especially American soldiers. One thing is certain, the military industrial complex would not be the bloated financial parasite on the economy that it has become today. No Iraq and Afghanistan war dragging on for 17 years, no reason to increase the military budget year after year.

Pointless thoughts.

Good grief, Bitcoin causes global warming…

The amount of non-renewable resources being consumed in the name of blockchain is just plain ridiculous. Also, the politicization of science is why advanced scientific discoveries tend not to be publicized in the way that they otherwise might. The Pentagon has been preparing for climate change unwaveringly since the 70’s, at least. They even have one or two giant doomsday bunkers (See: NORAD).

I can only hope that after the biosphere has collapsed, after civilization has crumbled, and after billions have died miserable deaths, that those elites who allowed it to happen will emerge from their underground bunkers looking like this:

Even if they aren’t looking like that,  they’ll for sure be feeling like that.
