Beautiful!  A multimillion dollar architectural wonder designed for the public, for everyone – a place for culture and learning.

New Central Library now ‘free and open to everyone’

“And then integrated with the architecture, it’s just beautiful. And like a library, it should be not just a place to store things, but a place that inspires you, a place that makes you think of stuff you didn’t think before.”
...
“The library of the future is as much about the library of the past as it ever has been. Ancient libraries were places where people talked a lot, they got together, moved around and shared their ideas about the world with other people”...

It is a beautiful building.  A question:  Aren’t all Canadian libraries “free and open to everyone”?

Yes, libraries are free and open to everyone.
I half-expected that some of the ‘extra’ services might carry a fee due to the high cost ($245 million) of this new building, but that does not appear to be the case.

I was pleased to see such efforts and resources put into an architecturally beautiful and well designed building for the public, as opposed to the usual money-making venues such as expensive hotels, sports complexes, etc. (not that they don’t have their place).
