Why did God create us?  Seriously.  What’s the point of creating something that will just give trouble, especially if you don’t have to do it.  Other creation stories begin similarly to Genesis in that they don’t explain why the god created everything.

It was an accident.

After a weekend of abandon, God had an unplanned creation. The Bible is a cover story.

That is why, ever since, no one f*cks with God.

So he’d have beings to worship him – God has a big ego.

I no longer believe in God, but if I did I don’t think I’d like him much – disease, natural disasters, spiders ... all that.

Conversely, what is God’s plan after he destroys the world?  He’ll be stuck with all the souls for eternity and there will be nothing left to do.  Sounds like a lousy plan which leads to boredom.

He could just start over on another planet using different parameters and then watch as it unfolds.  Perhaps he’s rather like Q or Trelane.  Sure, you might get a little bored of this after the umpteenth time, but what choice would you have if you’re omnipotent.

Perhaps he’ll take special interest in seeing you writhe in agony in the ‘lake of fire’

Why do people get puppies?

Probably not to commit them to eternal fiery damnation if they pee on the floor from time to time, or eat a few random socks.

YMMV

To do the same thing god does, punish them and train until they either perform tricks and show unconditional love at your feet in exchange for their every need or they go to the pound to be put down.

Contextually, being ‘put down’ is far more humane than eternal fiery damnation.

Agreed, but death apparently was not enough motivation for humans.

Did you REALLY expect a serious response to this question? Come on, man.

My comment about puppies was extremely serious.

You guys are way too stuck on the Judeo/Christian/Muslim concept of God.

I’ve always admired the Eastern concept of God, where the Godhead goes through cycles of forgetting who and what it is, and in turn, manifesting the entire universe and all the beings within it, only to eventually wake up from it’s dream to become the Godhead once again. This concept is God as creator of the Cosmic Play. And “play” is exactly what it is;  it’s the Godhead at play, like a child acting out all the parts in an elaborate game. So you and I have roles as actors in this play, but we’re so lost in our individual roles that we’ve forgotten our true identity.

After a certain amount of time, the game comes to a fiery end and the Godhead remembers it’s true self and abides in it’s oneness until it starts a new Cosmic Play all over again.

If you were God, what else would there be for you to do throughout all of eternity?
