When the nurse told him to fast he replied: “I’ll be right there.”

Lots of nurses these days are male or non-binary (north of S.F.), but both my surgeon and her anesthetist are female. I’ve never met either one, and I’m counting on them not hauling out #metoo enforcement if I hit on them once I’ve been tranquilized. I’m really hoping I’ve sufficiently matured this time around so I’ll be able to keep my mouth shut!

Also, it’s my second such procedure. I’ve still got one more prime location to look forward to: the rt inguinal, which has somehow done just fine so far. I give it a decade.

Actually, I thought it may have been an umbilical hernia.  Sixty two years in the making!

Due to the exorbitant health care fees, nv, I thought you might recruit a veterinarian instead.  And get fitted with one of those plastic collars so you don’t chew the stitches out.

What the hell did you eat that made part of your intestine want to escape?

Yes—I’ll have completed 2/3 of the golden triangle.

Actually, it’s been 63 years of stomach-area misuse, including shutting doors, steering cars, and pretending that my gut was a handy battering ram for pretty much anything nearby. Penance for such past misuse—basically, what a Norwegian bachelor farmer might resort to—is a monthly Kaiser premium of $1,472—yikes!

Also, a good vet would do just fine, LJ. Know anyone in my area?

That seems pretty steep.  Maybe Calabrese is a better deal.  Or perhaps a scone…

Sure, but then you’ll forever after be known as the guy who turns his head and growls.

For the record, I’m pleased not to have made any untoward advances, at least not while I was awake. And I can’t tell you how great it feels to have innards not constantly trying to maneuver themselves out. Thanks for your lighthearted words, LJ.

Back in kindergarten we marveled at the difference between outies and innies. Recover quickly.

Burt, you got me to wondering if the surgeon had perhaps permanently converted me into an outie. As per OR instructions, I removed the bandage this afternoon and noticed that she’d returned me to my original innie-ness. It’s a pity that a nearby area remains innie, as well.

I’m pretty sure that’s where you put the D cell batteries.

Exactly, figuratively speaking. Four of them, even.

If you’re ever running low you can always borrow some from GAD.  His new girlfriend takes six of them.

You’ll soon be ready for a real live human woman if you keep getting all those daily steps in.  I guess stalking yer ex-wife’s new boyfriend is really starting to pay off.

I just imagine them in misery while I’m walking, that makes me happy.

We’re all very sympathetic.  As a gesture we figured we’d all chip in and buy you something that goes from zero to 300 in under six seconds.

So we bought you a bathroom scale.
