I see the moral life as more of a process, not having a particular code or formula that always reaches the “right” result.  You look at your situation, your attitudes, your motives and your actions, and you critique them with all the tools you have at your disposal , trying to remove perceived flaws and incorporating lessons learned into your life.  You’ll never reach a perfect state or position, any more that a company will ever manufacture the perfect car.  You keep changing, as does the world around you, and so does your moral calculus.

The Socratic view, but there needs to be an internal orientation that points the way.

The internal orientation is that you need to be a person who operates in good faith, attempting to understand a situation instead of jumping to dogmatic safe houses or just being led by your personal passions/biases.

Or, led by other peoples’ biases,
As the authoritarians often seem to be?

Demagoguery works. And supports Trump’s internal orientation.
