This is centered on the Jussie Smollett story currently in the news cycle, but it is inline with the views I have posted on various threads. That is that racism and victimhood are now a huge industry, an industry that supports millions of activists, social justice warriors, media outlets, websites, blogs, lawyers and politicians and the garden variety self-righteous who need someone to save to feel good about themselves. That industry requires a enormous amount of racism and victims to sustain itself and support all those employees and push all those social and political agendas, ads, clicks, likes and tweets. Is there real racism and victims, yes, there was yesterday, there is today and there will be tomorrow and you can’t regulated it away no matter how hard you try or how draconian you get, but it’s limited and there just isn’t enough to support and grow the industry so now it’s become a product that needs to be manufactured.

Jussie Smollett, Roger Stone, Donald Trump and the politics of victimhood

‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett joins a list of suspects claiming to be ‘victims’ in crimes debunked by police

Why Do Some People Wish the Attack on Smollett Happened?

MAGA hat part deux: Jussie Smollett.  And the Covington MAGA hat kid is just BLM fabrication part 10.  Plenty of manufactured stories of police executing black men.  They just had their hands up or were reading a book.  The BLM media hysteria has seemed to die down, but there’s always something to replace it.  The race vultures swarm at the slightest sense that something happened that will enforce their beliefs.

More. I like that they included statistics. I also wonder how many of these media news sites will be right back to pushing the next extreme stories, ad revenue to push the stories and ad revenue to say that extremism is out of control, doesn’t seem like they can lose.

I “believe” I’m pretty up to date on world affairs—and I have no idea what is broadcast on the “current news cycle.” Could we do more construction by teaching others how to gather info? I’m really not interested in reacting to the “news cycle” broadcast media. “There’s a plague of false-prophet snake-oil salesmen-locust feasting on the flesh of humanity.” Uh, ok? And we’ll focus on individual locust? Maybe we offer long sleeves and long pants first. Maybe we ponder why so much flesh is exposed.

wonder how many of these media news sites will be right back to pushing the next extreme stories

All of them

White people complaining about how people are picking on them.  Yes indeed, the politics of victimhood.

I bet you two will spend more time and effort talking about Smollet than you will Hasson.

While I mostly agree with your point, I must ask, is placing your threads in The Funway an example of playing the victim card?

White people complaining

Can you forward the memo promoting Jews to White status? This whole intersectionality has swamped my inbox

No, I just like letting the discussions go where they may without any moderation or over-site for the sake of posterity.

White people can’t complain?  And I think you have the wrong idea of what I’m complaining about, or you think I have no right to complain because I’m not oppressed.
Lies and false narratives are used by both sides of the political spectrum, but there’s been a tilt in the scales over the past several years.  To call it out is not to say racism doesn’t exist or to be a racist apologist.  These stories do real damage to everyone, but the race vultures will eat it up so the media will serve it.

A lot of things go into this stew:

Sociopaths who are opportunists and will use manufactured victimhood to get what they want.

A 24 hour news media that is competing for clickbait and ratings, and who will jump at anything to get an emotional reaction from the reader or viewer so they will linger longer.

People who sincerely want change for the better, or justice for the powerless but who react too quickly to when these churned out, manipulative stories appear.

An overall poisonous atmosphere where two opposing states of mind and values — liberal and conservative — can no longer see any common ground with each other, and instantly believe the worst about the other.

Politicians who take advantage of this.

I think your complaints are disingenuous and one-sided.  I think you are self-righteous and full of bullshit, and if a story doesn’t confirm what you want to be true, you ignore it.  I think you are interested in this story purely because it means you can point at it and use it as proof against other claims of racism.

You came into these forums spouting white supremacist talking points, and so your continued desire to do so is unsurprising.

White supremacist talking points?!  Your MO is to come into a discussion forum, accuse people of being racist, and then when asked to clarify it you just say “it’s not worth my time!  You can’t make me discuss it!”.  If I remember correctly, my entry into the forums dealt with black lives matter and the issues I have with that movement.  So if you want to classify that as a white supremacist talking point (an obvious smear that I am a racist), then you need to smear others that generally have the same view that I do.  Sam Harris, Glenn Loury, Coleman Hughes, David Clarke, etc.  Oh, three of those I listed are black?  And the other is Jewish?  That’s weird - a bunch of non-white white supremacists!  Clayton Bigsby!

White supremacist talking points!  Hilarious.  You are a race vulture.

You might find this book interesting, The Rise of Victimhood Culture: Microaggressions, Safe Spaces, and the New Culture Wars, by Campbell and Manning.
