The teleportation thought experiment by Parfit strongly resembles a science fiction novel, Way Station (1963) by Clifford D. Simak about teleportation, in which there was a way station for travelers between where their trip originated and their destination. The process works by a form of duplication where the original remains at the source & a duplicate is created at the destination. The job of the way station manager is to make sure that the duplication process goes correctly. I remember the story, because of the way teleportation occurred, meaning that the original person was destroyed & the duplicate person took over. Every time teleportation occurred the same thing happened. New duplicates were formed.
