Exonerated?  Exonerated by 4 pages carefully selected from a 300 page report by one of his hand-picked supporters?

What continues to terrify me is the degree to which trump’s childish propaganda tactics work on the population.

Barr is already backpedaling, saying that his summary isn’t a summary, and that his conclusions aren’t necessarily Mueller’S conclusions.

But he does claim the right to redact whatever “to protect reputations”.

I like that Mueller said explicitly that the report did not exonerate the President to which the President replies ‘this report exonerates the President’.

As GAD would say, “BAM!”  Does this mean that about 300 pages will be redacted to protect Trump’s reputation?

given that Trump’s reputation is already toxic, what value would be protected?

Mueller (sp?) Has filed more indictments at the state level in places the Whitehouse cannot interfere.

It isn’t over yet.

Will Trump’s tax returns always be a blank area on the map?  A radioactive no-man’s land where not even hazmat people can go?

I expect they’ll be subpoenaed within the next 24 months.
He won’t reveal them without subpoena because he’s likely on the hook for tax fraud.

Pardon my ignorance on this, but here’s a dumb question:

Why can’t Mueller just reveal his findings to the general public himself? Why can’t he just go on, say, ‘60 Minutes’ and tell everything (minus national security information of course) to Scott Pelley? I don’t get it. Is it a legal thing that prevents him from speaking out? I’m sure there’s a simple answer, but it just seems weird to me that he conducts an investigation which then relies on the whims of someone else to release all the details.

Ron, this article came out this morning.  If Mueller is a man of integrity, can he really keep quiet as Trump struts on stage declaring himself ‘completely exonerated’ by Mueller’s report, and then adding as an aside - “I haven’t read it.”  https://www.newyorker.com/news/daily-comment/the-reputational-interests-of-william-barr?

How will William Barr appear in history books after this?

Trump is a known con man and swindler.  Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, calls it being a genius.  Other people are in jail for having a sandwich baggy of weed in their glove compartment.  Trump swindles people out of their life savings and buys his way out of prosecution.  https://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/trump-university-its-worse-than-you-think

While looking at this New Yorker article about the Trump University swindle, have another look at the (included) video of Cohen’s testimony (3 minutes).  Suppose some conscientious soul at the IRS can’t live with himself or herself any more, and decides to leak Trump’s tax returns as a way to save the nation from another 4 years of Trump.  Can you imagine how the Republicans will tear into that person just as they tear into Cohen in this video?

How DO these people sleep at night? Are they never introspective?

And what is it about their personalities that makes them so able to win political elections?

It’s against DOJ policy: you don’t reveal information unless you bring a case that information is based on. It is Barr, not Mueller, who is supposed to brief Congress on the report.

The powers of a Special Counsel are a fraction of what Ken Starr had as Special Prosecutor.

Climate change is going to cause a billion or more people to become refugees, fleeing from drought (crop failure), fire, flood and sea level rise, hurricane destruction, to name a few of the more obvious disasters causing people to become desperate and move away from their homes.  Trump probably has a bigger carbon footprint than just about anyone else on the planet.  How does he sleep at night?  By denying reality.  “It’s a hoax.”  “These people should stay at home in their own shithole countries.”  “They’re criminals, rapists, drug dealers.”  “Our country is full, there’s no room for them here.”  https://www.newyorker.com/news/dispatch/how-climate-change-is-fuelling-the-us-border-crisis?

Barr turns out to be Trump’s sock puppet.  Trump’s parrot?  He just learned to repeat the word ‘spy’?  The FBI wasn’t investigating Russian support of the Trump campaign, they were spying on Trump’s campaign?  Surprised?  https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2019/04/10/nancy-pelosi-william-barr-off-the-rails-sot-vpx.cnn

https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/redaction-of-mueller-report-halted-as-barr-passes-out-from-sharpie-fumes

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/07/us/politics/barr-redactions-mueller-report.html

Redact pages about ‘Peripheral People’?  Presumably including Mr. Trump himself?  Trump is peripheral to the Mueller Report so Barr has to protect the president’s reputation?
