I feel safer.
This sort of nuttery reveals itself in other, less obviously deluded form (but deluded nonetheless) when someone ostensibly credible like Governor Rick Perry issues a proclamation to pray for rain during a Texas drought, or when Mike Pence urges people to spend more time in prayer than on the internet, or when there is a call for more “thoughts and prayers” after a mass shooting. It’s all the same kind of nuttery at it’s core, but for some reason many believers will dismiss this woman as a crackpot while embracing the likes of Perry, Pence, et al.
Prayer is the ultimate non-action.
The one who prays can feel self-righteous, without ever having to do anything.
And meanwhile, dozens dead and many thousands suffered devastating losses in the Bahamas. God is good.
