The summary of this article is that if either trump or biden wins, then the rest of us, and our planet will lose, and oligarchs will win:

oligarchs for the win!

Seems like a spot on prediction to me.

If nominated, Biden’s political program would be more environmentally friendly and socially progressive than any program of any nominee of either party in US history.
Is Biden as progressive as Warren or Sanders?
No.

But he is about 80% there, compared to 0% for Trump.

I just don’t get the demand for Perfect when perfectly ok is on offer and actually achievable.

I don’t think that booting oligarchs is in pursuit of perfection. I think it’s in pursuit of survival. We can achieve Biden’s or Sanders’s agenda without oligarchs.

I was looking at the comments below the Chris Hedges’ article, and someone had posted this Frank Zappa quote. It’s dead-on target.

“The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it’s profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theater.”

What is your definition of an oligarch, rich and powerful? It’s cute you think you can get rid of them. Then who would the poor and powerless vote for? Other poor and powerless people? No, they would just create new oligarchs to lead them.

Must be weird to be in your brain. Deluding yourself that you can strawman people and they’ll fall for it.

Must be weirder to be in your brain. To incessantly rant on about people being rich and then deny it whenever called on it. The only person you are trying to fool here is yourself.

Since you are obsessed with what money others have, here you go. The streets are covered with money in Socialist Venezuela. One catch. It is worthless. Just like your ideas.

GAD and Celal,

You ought to consider reading more carefully. I am NOT opposed to people being rich!!!  full stop.

What I’m opposed to is having them be parasites on our society.

I might well be richer than yo GAD. AND, I pay my taxes. I just want billionaires to pay their taxes. It’s not for me directly, it’s for the roads and schools and policemen we ALL use and need.

You get the last word here, because your endless strawmanning is boring as shit.

Not paying tax for your income because it comes from financial instruments is indeed a form of freeloading on society.
It’s not bootstrapping if you get your boots and straps for free from the state.

I sympathize. As a topic, this horse never got out of the barn. I point out the extremely low resolution take on the topic as demonstrated by our regular lads.

Low-resolution takes accumulate into wild aspersions and juvenile humor. Many of us patrons would like to rise above this level of discourse. But to where? Low-resolution is an epidemic. We could ask those afflicted to quarantine themselves until we find ourselves in a more thoughtful epoch. When nuance can once again be contagious.

We are advised to avoid direct contact (quote boxes) with those who are clearly affected by the tiny bug with clearly visible tiny thoughts. Self-monitoring for low resolution ideas is recommended as is flushing YOUR EYEBALLS after reading this public forum.
