A science geek friend turned me on to this explanation for ice ages - the Milankovich Cycle (5 minute video):  https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/video/understanding-the-climate-clock/

And here is some more to help (it’s short):  https://geol105.sitehost.iu.edu/images/gaia_chapter_4/milankovitch.htm

The question asked at the end of the video asks if humans have broken the climate clock.  Did we?  The video didn’t say.  What do you say?

If we haven’t yet, we probably will as the third and second world countries ramp up their energy production, fossil-fertilizer farming, and plastics consumption - while global population continues to grow.

We haven’t broken the clock, we’ve just changed what the numbers mean.

I would guess that if we zoomed WAY OUT in time, we’d see that these cycles are blips in larger cycles.

I would guess that if we zoomed WAY OUT in time, we’d see that these cycles are blips in larger cycles.

If we zoom even farther out than that, solar systems would become just blips in the evident cycles.
